THE CALL
The Call formed in Santa Cruz in 1980 by vocalist / guitarist Michael Been, drummer / percussionist Scott Musick, bassist Greg Freeman, and guitarist Tom Ferrier. Steve Huddleston played keyboards early on for the band. Been and Musick were originally from Oklahoma. Been was previously a member of Chicago band Aorta, and then, between 1969 and 1971, of Lovecraft, the successor band to the psychedelic rock group H.P. Lovecraft.The first working name of the group was "Airtight" before later choosing the Call.

XMAL DEUTSCHLAND
Xmal Deutschland (pronounced: /ɪksmal ˈdɔʏtʃlant/), often written as X-Mal Deutschland, was a musical group from Hamburg, Germany. Founded in 1980 with a completely female line-up, they became successful[vague] outside their native country. The lead singer of the band was vocalist Anja Huwe. Xmal Deutschland's last album was released in 1989.

Midnight Oil (known informally as The Oils) are an Australian rock band composed of Peter Garrett (vocals, harmonica), Rob Hirst (drums), Jim Moginie (guitar, keyboard), Martin Rotsey (guitar) and Bones Hillman (bass guitar). The group was formed in Sydney in 1972 by Hirst, Moginie and original bassist Andrew James as Farm: they enlisted Garrett the following year, changed their name in 1976, and hired Rotsey a year later. Peter Gifford served as bass player from 1980-1987.

THE GO-BETWEENS

The Go-Betweens were an indie rock band formed in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia in 1977. The band was co-founded and by singer-songwriters and guitarists Robert Forster and Grant McLennan, who were its only constant members throughout its existence. Drummer Lindy Morrison joined the band in 1980, and its lineup would later expand to include bass guitarist Robert Vickers and Multi-instrumentalist Amanda Brown. Vickers place until the band split two years later.

The Colourfield were and English band formed in 1984 in Manchester when former Specials and Fun Boy Three frontman Terry Hall joined up with ex-Swinging Cats members Toby Lyons and Karl Shale. Despite the fact that all three members were from Coventry, the band was based in Manchester.
